The Little League® University was created to provide volunteer managers and coaches with the appropriate direction to organize and efficiently operate practices throughout the season.

Recently WSLL gave the following presentation on "Throwing Mechanics" to all managers at the AA level and below. However, what was discussed is applicable to all levels.

Good Throwing Mechanics Drill

Throwing Progressions (20 minutes)

• Forearm Darts  glove underneath throwing elbow. Finish peace sign down
• One Knee Throwing  Right knee and left heel aligned straight, hands together, rotate and separate hands (thumbs down), pause at check point (elbows above shoulder, shoulders aligned), drive chest towards glove and target
• Load Throws  Wide base, separate load back, load forward, pivot, release
• Step and Throw  Start square to target, step in front with right ankle at target, step, throw, finish, walk through the throw
• Long Toss  shoulder strength and arm strength, one hop throws
